As promised I am trying to bring you information on interesting sites that can supply good, knowledgeable advice for stainless steel. Following on from the BSSA site which is a UK funded site there is a national forum called the ISSF . The International stainless forum is a non profit organisation launched in 1996 with the aim to promote the usage and development of stainless steel worldwide and is supported by the world steel organisation. So what does it actually do ? Some of the areas of strength are without doubt the promotion and knowledge base of stainless steel like what it is , why use it and also what you can do with it. These are all areas that positively help the industry and educate users , students and potential customers.

The second interesting area is statistics again good for the industry in general to help planning and research. Some of the downsides to this and many other forums or associations are the self promotion of members this is often done to justify there existence and does give the user much information or help mainly a list with a heavy bias towards the “big boys” of the Industry. Why not feature some of the developing suppliers or markets.

With stainless steel the key to information is often the speed at which its delivered in a market that moves so quickly and is very price / demand sensitive its important to keep up to date of world developments. I think this is the weakest area of this site only really focusing on news from the site rather than one from all sources. The are lots of reliable sources from Reuters to metal bulletin all with good information for the market place yet at the time of review there where only two news stories from 2009 after 3 months surly this can be improved.

Aside from the amount of recent news and some member chest beating this site more than makes up for it with the quality of information on stainless steel and overall does an excellent job of promoting stainless steel so have a look by clicking here
