Stainless Steel price increase announced
Outokumpu have announced a base price increase for stainless steel from the 1st April 2012. The announcement which came in the form of a letter to key customers is listed below:
Outokumpu Stainless is increasing prices of all austenitic and ferritic cold rolled sheet and coil, hot rolled continuously produced plate and Quarto Plate effective for all deliveries from 1st April 2012.
Material supplied from all stock routes, including our Service Centres, will be subject to the same price increase with immediate effect.
The detailed price increases are as follows:
- Austenitic CR sheet / coil £50 per tonne increase
- Continuously produced plate £50 per tonne increase
- Ferritic CR sheet / coil £30 per tonne increase
- Quarto Plate £50 per tonne increase
The price increase follow recent gains in surcharges due to higher Nickel costs along with stronger demand due to re-stocking. It is expected that other mills will see how the market reacts with all manufactures desperate to increase prices and move back into profitability.











The market is already low and a hike in price means lesser margins
